Arriving at the Cabin.
On one of my recent travels, I had the opportunity to snag this cozy retreat in the Great Smoky Mountains. As I made my way up the winding North Carolina road, all I could think about was how this quiet haven will be a perfect space for rejuvenating the soul.
I knew I had arrived at my destination when I saw the welcoming “Cold Mountain Cabin” sign. I parked in the pebble driveway, got out of the car and marveled at the peaceful sounds of nature. It was such a refreshing change from the loud hustle and bustle of everyday life. I grabbed my bags and headed to settle in.
Self-Guided Tour
I reached the front door, and the first thing I noticed were the gorgeous floor to ceiling windows in both directions. I walked in and instantly felt at home from the warm aesthetic of the interior décor. Everything felt fresh and new.
The floorplan is open and airy with lots of natural light. There are so many windows, and every one of them provides a beautiful, picturesque view of the vibrant green outdoors. I honestly could not have found a better place to relax and unwind for a few days.
The Fire Pit and Hot Tub
I dropped my bags and began to explore my new home away from home. From the back door, there is a spacious deck and grill area that overlooks the luscious green back yard. There is a fire pit surrounded by six Adirondack chairs and a hammock nestled between two gorgeous trees. I don’t know about you but roasting marshmallows and swaying in a hammock sound lovely to me.
One of my favorite amenities Cold Mountain Cabin offers is the hot tub. Right below the deck, the bubbly water was already toasted to perfection. Just open the lid, and climb right in. That’s where I happily spent the second half of my first night.
The Secondary Bedroom
I didn’t spend any time in the secondary bedroom, but I did take a few steps in to appreciate the gift basket left on the bed for incoming guests. If you want a pretty view of the outdoors and a full bath, this room has it all too.
The Game Room
My favorite thing about the loft upstairs? It’s a game room! I love getting together with family and friends for a game night. Imagine all the laughter and excitement as you gather your favorite people. Here, you can find arcade games, a giant Connect Four attached to the wall, oversized dice, a large Jenga set, and an array of board games!
It also serves as a third bedroom with a sofa that pulls out into a queen-size bed. The loft has its own full bathroom. There are dumbbells and yoga mats and a designated desk workspace too.
The Wraparound Deck
I can imagine the game room would give kids a fun space to be entertained while their parents enjoy the wilderness atmosphere from one of the cabin’s cozy outdoor seating options. A glass of wine on the deck with a few friends or relax in the hot tub with your significant other.
The deck has a wraparound design, perfect for enjoying the breathtaking wilderness views. French doors in the dining room and in the primary bedroom both open up to their own private, outdoor spaces. Sweet!
The Primary Bedroom
After my self-led grand tour, I grabbed my bags and made myself at home in the primary bedroom at Cold Mountain Cabin. On one side, a pair of French doors lead to a private seating area on the wrap-around deck. It’s a perfect little nook to relish a cup of coffee or glass of wine while birdwatching. On the other side of the bedroom, there’s a bathroom with a separate shower and a jacuzzi bathtub.
I climbed into the king-sized bed, built myself a pillow fort, and went to sleep in the center of the fluffy pillows. I woke up in a starfish position, which could only mean one thing – I slept SOOO good! Full disclosure: I’m very picky when it comes to beds because quality of sleep is important! The mattress was very supportive, the sheets were really soft, and the weight of the blanket was perfect! 10 out of 10, I would sleep here again. Kudos to the host!
Mornings in the Cabin
My favorite part about waking up feeling so cozy and well-rested was the beautiful wilderness view peering in at me through the French doors. The morning light slowly began to drift in, the leaves were swaying in the breeze, and the birds were singing.
I’m not a coffee drinker, so I opted against lounging on the deck to enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature. Instead, I did my morning stretches and headed to prepare a bath in the jacuzzi. I looked through the guest toiletries stored under the counter and found goodies for my bath. A few moments later I stepped into a relaxing, bubbly sea of warmth. Ahhhh What a way to start the day! I soaked there until my fingers started to prune and decided it was time to be a productive member of society.
